How We're Different

light black and white pencil sketch of lemon branch_edited.jpg

Simply put — we only use all natural ingredients which provide two big benefits.

Superior Taste

No artificial flavoring, sweeteners, dyes or the latest food faddisms ever seem to come close to matching the flavor profiles of all natural ingredients. This is especially true for simple recipes with minimal ingredients such as water ice. Once you taste Granitas you'll never go back to the fake stuff.

Less Sugar

We use much less total sugar (over 1/3 less) which includes less added sugar relative to natural sugars. This is because 1) fresh fruit provides sugar and 2) we believe water ice shouldn't have candy-level sugar contents. View the table below to learn how we compare to Rita's water ice.

Key Takeaways

A LOT LESS SUGAR: With roughly 4 grams of sugar per ounce, Granitas contains significantly less total sugar than most frozen desserts including U.S. Italian ice and ice cream without sacrificing flavor.

ABOUT THE SUGAR SPLIT: In frozen desserts, naturally occurring sugars appear in meaningful amounts when real fruit is used (Granitas). A sugar profile dominated by added sugar (Rita's & competitors) it indicates no real fruit is being used.

NOTHING FAKE: We don't use artificial colors, dyes, or flavorings. The color and taste come directly from the fruits and nuts — exactly as it should.
